Summary and additional information: | <- M. Ranki. [K12 JM103]. For M13 phage propagation and its mp derivatives; the chromosomal wildtype allele proA+B+ on the F' factor complements the respective chromosomal deletion and allows selection for the presence of the F' factor, which is essential for the propagation of M13, in absence of proline (proline-prototroph); the lacIq allele on F leads to overproduction of the repressor, therefore the alpha complementation needs IPTG as inducer. (Medium 382, 37°C). |
