Name: | "Pseudomonas sp." |
DSM No.: | 104243 dsm-104243 dsm104243 dsm 104243 Microcoleus sp. |
Strain designation: | DAI |
Isolated from: | Intertidal habitat (marine) |
Country: | United States of America Alabama, Dauphin Island |
Nagoya Protocol Restrictions: | There are NO known Nagoya Protocol restrictions for this strain. |
History: | <- {2014} <- U. Karsten, Universität Rostock, Germany; DAI {1995} |
Genbank accession numbers: | 16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: EF654029 |
Cultivation conditions: | Medium 1831a , alternative medium: DSMZ Medium 1680, 17°C
At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm2 plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture Coleofasciculus strains, scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette and crush it by pipetting up and down several times. Alternatively, use a disposable pipette tip to dissect the cell material. Use 2-3 ml of the shredded biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. Light cycle: 16 hours of illumination at 300-350 lux and 8 hours dark period. Transfer interval of 12 weeks.

Summary and additional information: | <- {2014} <- U. Karsten, Universität Rostock, Germany; DAI {1995}. Intertidal habitat (marine). United States of America, Alabama, Dauphin Island. Taxonomy/description (40901, 27474). Sequence accession no. 16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: EF654029. The assignment to the genus Microcoleus is preliminary. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain DSM 104243 is represented in the phylogenetic tree given at: http://cyanophylogeny.scienceontheweb.net/strain.html. Accordingly, DSM 104243 might be a member of the proposed genus “3.1.11", species “3.1.11 A”. Coleofasicuales bacterium. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 104243 is a non-axenic culture
. (Medium 1831a, incubation time: more than 4 weeks, 17°C, alternative medium: DSMZ Medium 1680).
