| Cultivation conditions: | Medium 1593 , 22°C
At the DSMZ, cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm² plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM112007, scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette, then crush it by pipetting up and down several times. Use 2 ml of the biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. The light cycle is 16 hours of illumination at 300 lux followed by an 8-hour dark period. The transfer interval is 8 weeks.

Azua-Bustos, Centro de Astrobiología (CSIC/INTA), Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial; AAB1 {2011}. Hypolithic biofilm under quartz stone. Chile, 22 km south of Antofagasta, coastal range of Atacama Desert. Type strain.. Taxonomy/description (40510). Sequence accession no. 16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: KU847399.1, draft genome sequence: GCA_009728615.1. Autotrophic. DSM 112007 is extremly desiccation tolerant. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 112007 is a non-axenic culture. Strain-specific literature (40508, 40509).
