History: | <- M. Gehringer, TU Kaiserslautern, Facullty of Biology, Microbiology Division; Leptolyngbya sp. 49.3 {2022} |
Genbank accession numbers: | 16S ribosomal RNA gene, partial sequence: JF810600 |
Cultivation conditions: | Medium 1593 , 23°C
At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm2 plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM 114157 scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette and crush it by pipetting up and down several times. Use 1-2 ml of the shredded biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. Light cycle: 16 hours of illumination at 500 lux and 8 hours dark period. Transfer interval of 8 weeks.

Summary and additional information: | <- M. Gehringer, TU Kaiserslautern, Facullty of Biology, Microbiology Division; Leptolyngbya sp. 49.3 {2022}. From soil surrounding Cycad corilline root of cycad: Macrozamia sp. Bundarra. Australia, New South Wales, Munro Nature Reserve. Sequence accession no. 16S ribosomal RNA gene, partial sequence: JF810600. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 114157 is a non-axenic culture. (Medium 1593, incubation time: 7-14 days, pH 7.4, 23°C).
