| Cultivation conditions: | Medium 1593 , 18°C At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm² plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM 101436, gently shake the flask to disperse the cyanobacteria from a mature culture, then inoculate 1–2 ml into 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. The light cycle is 16 hours of illumination at 160 lux using fluorescent Osram Fluora, Osram Lumilux cool white and Osram Lumilux warm white lights, followed by eight hours of darkness.
