| Cultivation conditions: | Medium 1593 , 18°C
At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm² plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM 101433, gently shake the flask to disperse the cyanobacteria from a mature culture, then inoculate 1–2 ml into 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. The light cycle is 16 hours of illumination at 40 lux using fluorescent Osram Fluora, Osram Lumilux cool white and Osram Lumilux warm white lights, followed by eight hours of darkness. The transfer interval is four weeks.

Summary and additional information: | <- L. J. Stal, Culture Collection Yerseke (CCY), Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ); {2015} <- Culture Collection Yerseke (CCY), Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ); CCY9701 {1997}. Water column. Spain, Albufera di Valencia. Taxonomy/description (41553). Sequence accession no. 16S ribosomal RNA gene, partial sequence: EU025797.1, 16S–23S rRNA intergenic spacer: EU119316.1. Assignment to the species Pseudanabaena catenata is preliminary. Comment of the depositor: "Pseudanabaena is a filamentous cyanobacterium. It is not able to fix nitrogen. It is able of chromatic adaptation". Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. Non-axenic. Strain-specific literature (27332, 27344, 27346). (Medium 1593, incubation time: more than 4 weeks, 18°C).
