History: | <- K. Glaser, Universität Rostock, Germany; {2013} <- T. Mikhailyuk, Universität Rostock, Germany; Us-6-3 {2013} |
Genbank accession numbers: | 16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: MH688850 |
Cultivation conditions: | Medium 1593 , 17°C
At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm2 plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM112875 scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette and crush it by pipetting up and down several times. Use 1-2 ml of the shredded biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. Light cycle: 16 hours of illumination at 400 lux and 8 hours dark period. Transfer interval of 8 weeks.

Summary and additional information: | <- K. Glaser, Universität Rostock, Germany; {2013} <- T. Mikhailyuk, Universität Rostock, Germany; Us-6-3 {2013}. Sand dunes, biocrusts with dominance of cyanobacteria and streptophyte algae. Germany, the coast of the Baltic Sea, Usedom Island, vicinity of Zempin. Taxonomy/description (40197, 40209, 40208). Sequence accession no. 16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: MH688850. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 112875 is a non-axenic culture. Strain-specific literature (40244). (Medium 1593, incubation time: 7-14 days, 17°C).
