| Risk assessment: | MDA-MB-231 cells were transduced with the lentiviral SIN vector pRRL.PPT.SF.mcherry.pre#. Human primary mesenchymal stroma/stem cell-like cells were transduced in the same way with eGFP instead of mCherry. Cocultivation of the cell types resulted in hybrid cells with double fluorescence, which were selected and expanded. The starting cells are assigned to protection level 1. The transduction methods are acknowledged third-generation safety measures to prevent the development of replication-competent retroviruses in the transduced cells. Hybridization is not expected to result in an increased safety risk. The genetic engineering work with the cell line can therefore be assigned to biological safety level S1. |
