Date of sampling: | 2002-06-15 |
Nagoya Protocol Restrictions: | There are NO known Nagoya Protocol restrictions for this strain. |
History: | <- {2014} <- U. Karsten, Universität Rostock, Germany; WW6 {2002} |
Genbank accession numbers: | 16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: EF654054.1 16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: OR297730 |
Cultivation conditions: | Medium 1680 , 17°C
At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm2 plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture Coleofasciculus strains, scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette and crush it by pipetting up and down several times. Alternatively, use a disposable pipette tip to dissect the cell material. Use 2-3 ml of the shredded biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. Light cycle: 16 hours os illumination at 100 lux and 8 hours dark period. Transfer interval of 12 weeks.

Summary and additional information: | <- {2014} <- U. Karsten, Universität Rostock, Germany; WW6 {2002}. Intertidal habitat (brackish, 10 PSU). Germany, Baltic Sea, Großer Werder Zingst. Sequence accession no. 16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: EF654054.1, 16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: OR297730. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 104225 is a non-axenic culture. Strain-specific literature (27474).
